Advisory for ARR, biochar & bamboo

ARR projects, agricultural biochar, biochar carbon removal and bamboo plantations - from site to business case.

01 / ARR project development

ARR project development.
Globally, across forest types.

Afforestation, reforestation and revegetation across all forest types - the right system for the land, the people and the long-term economics.

Tenure, land-use history and stakeholder needs assessed before capital goes in.

Our experience / ARR project development

We don't just advise - we implement. Since 1997 we have established three own ARR projects on over 18,000 ha, and supported over 30 more worldwide with PDD writing and setup.

02 / Biochar in agriculture

Biochar in agriculture.
Soil science meets crop economics.

Biochar is not a universal fertiliser. Its value depends on soil, product and application - so we test it, crop by crop.

Soil pH, texture and limiting factors first; biochar matched to the crop and checked for contaminants.

Our experience / Biochar in agriculture

Scientific expertise plus smallholder biochar scaling in low-income countries: coffee in Tanzania, Uganda and Nicaragua; cotton in Zambia, Ethiopia and India; cocoa in Ghana and Uganda; tea and palm oil in Uganda.

Commodity opportunities

Established markets. Focused application strategies.

Established buyer markets make these useful starting points. The real opportunity depends on local soil, crop value, biochar supply and application cost.

Coffee

Established global trade and specialty buyers

Root-zone trials and compost blends in perennial systems.

Cocoa

International confectionery and traceable sourcing

Agroforestry soils and establishment-stage trials.

Grapes & wine

Fresh-fruit buyers and value-added wine markets

Water and soil management in vineyard trials.

Fruit & nuts

Domestic retail, export and processing channels

Orchard establishment and root-zone feeding for citrus, avocado, almonds.

Vegetables

Fresh produce, greenhouse and processing buyers

High-value rotations and growing-media blends.

Maize & wheat

Large food, feed and milling markets

Mechanised application with strict cost-per-hectare economics.

Rice

Established regional and international staple trade

Paddy trials covering water management and emissions.

Cotton

International textile and fibre supply chains

Soil constraints, nutrition and fibre-quality monitoring.

Market presence is not proof of profit: yield and nutrient responses need local validation, and carbon eligibility is a separate assessment.

03 / Biochar carbon projects

Biochar carbon projects.
Simple technology, certified removals.

Credible removals don't need an industrial plant. We build projects around low-cost kilns, local biomass and the measurement that makes credits verifiable.

Flame-curtain or brick kilns local teams can build and run - compared on output, quality, emissions and cost.

Our experience / Biochar carbon projects

Uganda's largest biochar producer today. We run simple, decentralized units close to demand, cutting transport and impact - and help new or existing sites match kiln to feedstock, conditions and market.

04 / Bamboo plantations

Bamboo plantations.
From nursery to investment case.

A productive stand begins before planting. Nursery planning, silviculture and value-chain economics in one strategy, built for the market it serves.

Species chosen for site and product; propagation, stock quality and nursery capacity planned to delivery.

Our experience / Bamboo plantations

A global network of bamboo experts backs our advice to developers and investors in tropical and subtropical regions: business models, ARR carbon development and silviculture, plus bamboo residues turned into biochar from our own Ugandan production.

Your project, clearly defined

Start with the decisions that matter.

Bring your land, feedstock, target crop or product and stage. We define the technical questions, the assumptions and a focused scope.

  • A site-specific feasibility and risk assessment
  • A practical technical and implementation roadmap
  • A business case with transparent assumptions
