global-woods international AG emerged in 2002 from the Institute for Environment and Development GmbH, and focuses on consulting environmental politics. The headquarters are located in the town of Münstertal in the Black Forest, close the "solar capital" of Freiburg. The company has been active in creating new forest for climate protection for more than 10 years and employs approx. 200 people world-wide. The interaction of experts from finance, forestry and politics from more than 5 nations is the basis of the company's success.
Mission
The ecological benefits of forests and the value of timber is well known. But so far the co-benefits of forests did not have a price. The importance of forests for climate protection was the break-through allowing this to change. global-woods international follows an integrated forestry concept, that uses forests in their multiple functions sustainably and efficiently.

Dr. Manfred Vohrer, CEO
 Having studied political economics in Tübingen, Lausanne and Freiburg and having obtained a Ph.D. in European Agricultural Politics, Dr. Manfred Vohrer started his successful political career. From 1972 to 1983 he was member of the German Parliament and from 1989 to 1994 a member of the European Parliament. In the NGO "globe" Dr. Vohrer already in the early 90's collaborated with Al Gore, who's slogan: "Plant trees, many trees" became the leitmotif of global-woods. Dr. Vohrer holds several honourable offices that allow him to stand up for a sustainable economy and climate protection.
vohrer(at)global-woods.com Matthias Baldus, Forest and Carbon Management  Matthias Baldus studied forestry in Freiburg, Germany and Québec. He worked in several European, African and Latin American countries both in forest management and marketing. Besides his work for global-woods he is doing research in risk management with the Institute of Forest Economics, Freiburg. Tobias Depnering, Project Management
 Tobias Depnering is a trained carpenter and studied forestry in Freiburg, Germany and Canada. Besides working in wildfire-fighting and fire-management in Canada he took part in several projects in Paraguay, Peru and Costa Rica. His focus is on developing sustainable forestry projects in Latin America.

Johannes Mokwena, Head of forest operations Uganda  Johannes Mokwena studied forestry at Nelson Mandela University in South-Africa. Working with major South-African companies from the forestry sector he gained experience which he is now applying in Uganda. Planning and implementing forest operations from the nursery up to harvest is a new aspect in Ugandan forestry and knowledge from abroad is highly appreciated. Gerhard Dyck, Advisor of forest operations Paraguay Gerhard Dyck has been managing forestry projects in Paraguay for more than 10 years. His work focus is on agro-forestry. He is closely linked with major agricultural co-operations in the country. The recent dynamic development in the agricultural and forestry sector in the Paraguay is closely monitored by him. He is doing research on biofuel production with the University of Asuncion.
Konstantin Technau, Chairman Konstantin Technau is a retired notary and is now the chairman of the supervisory board of global-woods. He has a life-long interest in ecological and environmental issues and applies his juridical expertise for the control and well-being of the company. Walter Brinkmann, Member of the Executive Board After his industrial and engineering studies at TU Berlin, Walter Brinkmann worked primarily in marketing and regional management for European consumer goods companies. He established and managed the Coca-Cola's European Affairs Office in Brussels between 1990 and 2000. Since then he works as a free agent in European business affairs.
